Mindfulness is simply being aware of what's happening right now without wishing it were different; enjoying the pleasant without holding on when it changes (which it will); being with the unpleasant without fearing it will always be this way (which it won't).
~ James Baraz
WHAT?
The present moment is the only place life can truly be lived. Mindfulness is a way of being fully present and aware in each moment of our lives with gentle effort. Much of the anxiety we create in our lives is generated by thoughts about the past or future. In this way we skim the surface of our lives often missing what is right before us. Through mindfulness practices we learn how to train the brain to form new neural pathways enhancing our ability to stay present. With regular, consistent practice we cultivate positive qualities of kindness and compassion while discovering our authentic selves. |
