“Peace is present right here and now, in ourselves and in everything we do and see. Every breath we take, every step we take, can be filled with peace, joy, and serenity. The question is whether or not we are in touch with it. We need only to be awake, alive in the present moment.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
MY PASSION TO TEACH MINDFULNESS
In 2005 I became a certified yoga teacher through the Living Yoga Program in Austin. I taught yoga for 11 years and then realized that my true passion was learning about the mind in order to live with a deep sense of ease, well-being and connection to ourselves, others and the world. I became a certified mindfulness teacher through author and mindfulness teacher Shamash Alidina in 2014. My intent is to share this practice with others who are interested in living with the reality of life as it is rather than how they wish it would be.
I offer presentations and workshops on mindfulness as well as 6 or 8 week mindfulness courses for groups. Mindfulness teaches us skills to stay present with our experience whether it be pleasant, unpleasant or neutral. We learn to do this with kindness toward ourselves, letting go of judgments and cultivating awareness of what is happening within us and around us.
Scientific research has proven the benefits of mindfulness practices which are now being implemented in schools, hospitals, businesses, prisons, as well as treating veterans suffering from post traumatic stress.
